Two good CRMs
built around different verbs.
Close was built for teams that dial, and the product shows it: the dialler is excellent, call recording and coaching are first-class, and the whole interface assumes somebody is on the phone. Signal was built for teams whose outbound is email and whose problem is everything either side of the conversation, from finding the account to sending the proposal. The pricing lands on the same number at the tier most teams need, $99, and the only question is whether that buys one person or all of them, and what you are still paying for on top.
A calling-first sales CRM
Built for teams whose outbound motion is the telephone.
- Power Dialer from Growth, Predictive Dialer on Scale
- Calling and SMS in the CRM, usage billed separately
- Live call coaching and unlimited recording retention on Scale
- Sequences and workflows from the Growth plan
- Priced per user, with no seat minimums

A CRM and more, for email-led outbound
Built for growing teams that want the data and the documents in the same place.
- Pipeline, activities, forecasting and account history
- B2B prospect database and enrichment included
- Sequences from your own inbox on every plan
- Booking link that writes back to the deal
- Proposals and quotes
- Unlimited users, no usage billing

Feature comparison
The first section is where Close wins, and it is first on purpose. Signal has no answer to a Power Dialer, so if that is central to how your team works the rest of this page will not change your mind.
Where Close is genuinely betterRead this first · If your team lives on the phone, Close is the stronger product
Close is built around calling and it is very good at it. If outbound calling is the centre of how your team sells, these rows matter more than anything else on this page.
| Feature | Close | ![]() |
|---|---|---|
| Power Dialer | Growth plan and above | Not a Signal feature |
| Predictive Dialer | Scale plan | Not a Signal feature |
| Calling built into the CRM | Core to the product | Not offered |
| SMS from the CRM | Included, usage billed separately | Not offered |
| Live call coaching | Scale plan | Not offered |
| Call recording and retention | Unlimited retention on Scale | Not offered |
| AI meeting notetaker | On every plan | Not a Signal feature |
| Cheapest entry point | Solo at $9 per user / month on annual | $99 flat |
What calling actually costsCall minutes are not in the subscription
This is the part a sticker-price comparison misses, and it is not a criticism of Close so much as a fact about how it is sold. Calling is switched on by default on every plan, but the usage is billed separately from the subscription.
| Feature | Close | ![]() |
|---|---|---|
| Call minutes included in the plan | No. Billed at Twilio pay-as-you-go rates | No calling feature |
| Phone numbers | Rented monthly, charged separately | Not applicable |
| SMS | Billed per Twilio message unit | Not applicable |
| US A2P registration fees | One-off $4 to $44 plus a monthly fee | Not applicable |
| Rounding | Calls rounded up to the next minute | Not applicable |
| Predictability of the monthly bill | Subscription is fixed, usage is not | One fixed monthly price |
Prospect dataClose enriches what you have · It does not find new companies
Close has a feature called Enrichment, and it is easy to read as a prospect database. Close’s own help centre describes it as requesting AI-generated values for fields on Lead and Contact records you already hold, using the record’s existing name or website as context. That is data entry avoidance, which is useful, but it is not discovery.
| Feature | Close | ![]() |
|---|---|---|
| Built-in B2B prospect database | None. Enrichment works on records you hold | 2,000 fresh prospects a month on Launch |
| Find companies you have never heard of | Not what Enrichment does | Prospect Spark, against your ICP, daily |
| Enrich an existing record | On every plan | Included |
| Enrichment metering | 6 AI credits per field, or 5 cents per field. Their help centre says both | No per-field or per-reveal charge |
| AI credit allowance | 500 to 2,000 per user a month by plan | A monthly ANI allowance on the workspace, not per user |
| Enrichment paused by a credit balance | Yes. Enrichment stops until you buy more | No. Contact reveals carry no credit charge |

Close plan prices, per-plan feature availability, enrichment metering and calling cost structure were read from close.com/pricing and Close’s help centre on 19 September 2026, in US dollars. Close’s help centre described two different enrichment billing models on that date, six AI credits per field in one article and five cents per field in another. Both appear above and neither is treated as settled. Empiraa Signal prices are the same number in AUD, USD, EUR and GBP, and Australian prices include GST.
AI COMPARISON
Close’s AI listens to calls.
ANI reads the pipeline.
Close puts AI where its product is, on the call: an AI notetaker on every plan and AI-generated field values for enrichment, both drawing on a shared credit pool. ANI works on deals, activity and history across the workspace and says which accounts deserve the next hour.
Close AI
- AI meeting notetaker on every plan
- AI-generated field values for enrichment
- Metered at 6 AI credits per field enriched
- 500 to 2,000 credits per user a month by plan
- Enrichment pauses when the credit pool runs out

ANI, AI across the sales workflow
- Find and surface relevant prospects
- Personalise outreach
- Plan follow-up
- Generate sales content
- Identify next actions
- Progress opportunities
Which platform fits your sales team?
Close may suit you if:
- Outbound calling is the centre of how your team sells
- You need a Power Dialer or a Predictive Dialer
- Call recording, retention and live coaching matter to you
- You are one person and Solo at $9 covers it
- You already have prospect data and proposal tooling you like

Empiraa Signal may suit you if:
- Your outbound is mostly email
- You want prospect data in the CRM, not beside it
- You need proposals and a price book after the call
- A per-user price plus metered call usage is hard to budget
- You want sequences without reaching the third tier
One price, and nothing metered on top.
No usage bill
Launch is $99 a month and that is the whole figure. No call minutes, no number rental, no message units, and no credit balance standing between a rep and a contact record.
2,000 prospects a month, included
Found against your ideal customer profile. Close has no prospect database at any plan, so this is a difference upgrading does not close.
Sequences on the first plan
Not on the third. Close gates sequences and workflow automation behind Growth at $99 a seat; Signal has both on Launch.
