Cookie Policy

This page lists every cookie empiraa.com sets, what each one does, how long it lasts and who receives the data. All of them currently run when you visit. We are building a control that lets you turn the analytics and advertising ones off from this page; until it is here, the way to refuse them is your browser, and the last section explains how.
This policy describes what the website does. It is written to be accurate rather than to be reassuring, and it has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. If anything here does not match what you see in your browser, tell us at privacy@empiraa.com and we will fix it.
What a cookie is here
A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to keep. Some of what is listed below is not technically a cookie: session storage and local storage do a similar job and are held by the browser in the same way. They are all listed together, because the distinction matters to a developer and not to you.
Strictly necessary
These run whatever you choose, because without them the site cannot do what you asked it to. They stay on your device only, we do not share them, and none of them is used to build a picture of you.

Analytics
These count visits and show us which pages people read and where they give up. This category includes session replay through Contentsquare, which records mouse movement, scrolling and clicks so we can see where a page confuses people. It does not record what you type into a field.
It also includes one thing worth spelling out. When you accept this category, we look up which organisation your internet connection belongs to, and where that resolves to a company we record the company name alongside the pages you read, so our sales team can see which businesses are looking at us. This identifies an organisation, never you: we do not learn your name or your email address from it and we do not try to. Most connections do not resolve to a company at all, because home broadband, mobile networks and VPNs resolve to the provider instead. Your IP address is not stored, only a one-way code made from it. Blocking cookies in your browser, or emailing us, stops it.

Advertising
These tell us which ad or campaign brought you here, and let us show Empiraa ads to people who have visited before. This is the category that shares data with Google and Meta. If you are only going to turn one thing off, this is the one that matters most.

Who receives the data
Google (Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads), Meta, and Contentsquare. Each acts as our processor for the data its own tags collect, and each stores and processes that data outside Australia, including in the United States. Where that transfer involves personal data of someone in the EEA or the UK, it relies on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, which those providers publish as part of their terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone other than the processors named above.
Changing your mind
There is no on-site control yet. Until there is, use your browser, or email privacy@empiraa.com and we will stop processing your data and delete what we hold.
Some cookies were set by another company on their own domain and are not ours to delete. To clear those, use your browser: in Chrome, Settings, Privacy and security, Third-party cookies, See all site data and permissions. Safari, Firefox and Edge all have an equivalent under privacy settings. You can also block cookies there entirely, though some parts of this site will stop working if you do.
Your choice is stored for six months, after which we will ask again.
Keeping this accurate
Cookie lifetimes are as published by each provider and can change when they update their own tags. The categories, and what we do with each one, are ours and are what we commit to. If we add a tool that sets a cookie, this page is updated before it goes live.
